First Line

I am deep in the land of final revisions, and have no time to even think of a blog post. I’m too busy guiding my characters down the treacherous Colombia River.

Instead, I thought it would be fun for everyone to post the first line of one of their favorite books. (Please include book title and author).

Oh, and in other news—I’ve finally figured out how to do links.  I’m going to be filling up boxes with all kinds of cool things.  🙂
