Writing Quote Friday

Today’s writing quotes are from Tom Clancy…

Nothing is as real as a dream. The world can change around you, but your dream will not. Responsibilities need not erase it. Duties need not obscure it. Because the dream is within you, no one can take it away.
The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

No matter what you or anyone else does, there will be someone who says that there’s something bad about it.

  1. My book reviews have been better than I ever dreamed, but I always tell ’em the same thing. One reviewer said to be prepared ’cause he was tough.

I replied, “Well sir, my wife and my children and Mama love me so I’m not really too worried about what you might say.”

It turned out he liked the book.

So happy to see you here at my blog! Congrats again on your book…I’ve followed your journey since you started putting up your “road to an agent” posts up on your blog and now I’m so happy to see your book is doing well and getting great reviews.

    • Florence,

I threw in that final quote really quick, and now I’m glad I did because it seems to be the one most resonating with everyone.

I completely agree, a bad review/critique hurts at first but then when you take a step back (and pout while eating lots of chocolate) and regroup you can be objective and see where the reader is coming from.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. These are good quotes for writing and for life, too. I’m going to add them to my growing quote file. I think the dream quote is my favorite. Thanks, Christi.

  3. Monica,

Hello to my new blogging friend! I do quotes every Friday and if you have a favorite one I’d love to share it with everyone (with credit to you for finding it and a link to your blog/twitter/etc)

I really liked the dream one too. Even though it wasn’t specifically about writing, I thought it a perfect one for writers :D.

    Thanks for stopping by,

  4. Deborah,

That quote reminded me of my favorite TV show, Castle. The main character is a writer and he’s always running storylines during murder investigations and he often gets stumped because real life rarely makes sense and is logical. 😀

    Thanks for visiting!
