GoodReads Newbie Needs Advice

Anyone out there using Goodreads on a regular basis? I’ve checked out the site and think it’s a valuable tool for readers and writers alike, but I’m just not sure where to start :).

    • Florence,

I figured I’d give it a try, mainly because I’ve seen how books can be marked as “TBR”. And since I’ve got a towering stack of TBR’s in my house I’m hoping maybe I can keep track of them, and ones I’ve read.

      Thanks for visiting!

  1. I’m a GoodReads author. I’m not on there a lot but I do use it to keep track of the books I read. (I never rate) When you go to add books, you have a choice of adding it to read, currently reading and to read, but I also know that you can add your own bookshelves to but the books in different catagories such as YA/ non-fiction/ local interest, etc. My best advice is to click around the site and see what all is there. You can also add friends, become fans of authors, and send messages..You can rate the books you read and writer revies and post them…Lots to do.. Hope this helps a little. Good luck. 🙂

    • Laura,

I’ve now figured out how to track the books I’ve read, and am through adding one of my bookshelves from my home library. Only about 10 more shelves to go 🙂

I’m liking your idea of creating my own labels for my bookshelves by category.

      Thanks for the great ideas!
