8 Questions, 8 Answers

I found this going around the internet, then was “tagged” by reading Coffey. Tea. And Literary’s blog . I’m a bit late to this party so, without further ado, here’s a glimpse into my brain…

1. If you could have a superpower, what would you have? Why?

The power of invisibility.  Yes, I know, everyone always goes with the old standbys of power of flight, strength, time travel, etc… but think about how cool  it would be (and all you would learn) to actually be “the fly on the wall”.

2. Who is your style icon?

Neil Diamond of course. Because that dude can rock glitter shirts and tight pants every single time he appears in public! However, a close second would be myself, back in college, before I had “Mommy had twins and they ruined my stomach and nearly everything else” body. (They are TOTALLY worth it though!)

3. What is your favorite quote?

Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged,

Missing me one place search another,

I stop somewhere waiting for you.

From the last paragraph of Song of Myself by Walt Whitman

4. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?

It’s a bit of a collective one, but I am excited and flattered that people (and not just my family and friends) are asking when is my book going to be published. Unfortunately, I can only smile and say “Soon, I hope.”

5. What playlist/cd is on your ipod/cd player right now?

In the CD player of my computer is a collection of songs popular from travelers along the Oregon Trail. (Thanks National Geographic!) Since that is the topic of my current book I use it mainly for research and to set the tone when I write, but have found some of them quite catchy. Several are recognizable to this day, like Oh Susanna.

6. Are you a night owl or a morning person?

Night owl. Morning people bother me, especially those who are cheerful and do things like whistle, open drapes, and turn on lights. (I’m looking at you dear hubby!)

7. Do you prefer dogs or cats?

Dogs. But since I call small dogs “Cats that can bark” I would have to add the stipulation that they be medium or large breed. (FYI: I’m typing this with a Border Collie puppy at my feet)

8. What is the meaning behind your blog name?

It’s my name. Yep, I went all fancy on that one :). But, I chose it for a very specific reason…when I finally do land that book contract my name goes on the front cover, not some tricky blog title/slogan. So, I won’t have to rebrand myself. (That’s my marketing background talking. The impractical side of me wanted a flashy title!)

Now what?

I’m supposed to tag 8 people to complete this blog on their own. But, instead I’m going to follow what Coffey. Tea. And Literary did and tag everyone reading this.  I know these are silly, but they’re fun too…and what’s life without a little fun?
