I’ve had my eye on Scrivener for the past year, and have read countless articles about the program. Bottom line, I really want to try it but haven’t yet made the final jump to purchase it.
If you’re considering using the program, here is a very informative article…
Top 10 Scrivener Features for Writers
What about you? Do you use a program to organize your writing?
I started using Scrivener a year ago, and I’m never going back. 🙂 I don’t use all its features, far from, but the beauty of it is that I don’t have to. They’re there if I need them, but for now I’m fine just using it for organising my novels. My favourite thing about it is that it’s easy to get an overview, to have a novel project and have folders labelled “first draft”, “second draft” and so on and then keep the chapters seperately inside them and move them whenever they go from one phase to the next. Honestly I’m not sure if I could have kept up with serialising if I’d only had OpenOffice or Word.
Ooooh, now I’m even more excited to give it a try! What was your learning curve like? I’ve heard it can be pretty steep for some, but from all the tutorials I’ve seen I think I could get the hang of it within a few weeks (hopefully!)
I think it depends on how much you want to do or how complicated things you want to do. I’m mostly doing basic things, so for me it was mostly a matter of making a new project file and playing around for a while. 🙂 (I wrote a post about it last year. Maybe you can use the links: https://howalt.wordpress.com/2014/08/25/scribbling-in-scrivener/)
Christi, I’ve been wanting to use Scrivener for a long time now. All I need is a block of time to teach myself how. I do believe what I have been told … this is a wonderful tool for any writer.
Let me know what you think 🙂
We can commit to it at the same time and learn together!
