Guest Host: Lynn Spangler

Today’s guest host is fellow Astraea Press author, Lynn Spangler. I learned about Lynn when we became release day buddies on June 11th, 2013. (Her book, Love Flourishes, released the same day as Along the Way Home.)

Without further ado, here’s Lynn…

First, I’d like to thank Christi for allowing me to hijack her blog for the day. Thank you, ma’am.

My road to publication has been a long one. It began nearly six years ago with an off-handed comment made by my husband. He told me I read so much that I should be able to write a book. That got me off and running. I had so many story starts and stops that I lost count years ago. I’m so thankful that I’ve had a wonderful critique partner who turned out to be one of my biggest supporters and one of my closest friends. Without her guidance and many pep talks, I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.

I struggled to find my voice and identity. I dabbled with erotic romances but that particular genre left me uncomfortable. It just wasn’t my niche. I cleaned up my act and wrote a couple of clean romances. I submitted my first, Whiskey Whispers of the Past, to Astraea Press. The owner honestly told me the story needed some work but was willing to contract it based on the storyline. Needless to say, I was over the moon. I was going to be published.

The edits for Whiskey Whispers of the Past were sent to me and it did need some work but I learned so much. My editors were gems. With their guidance, Whiskey Whispers of the Past took shape and eventually became the book it is now.

I now have three other stories published with Astraea Press, including the follow-up to Whiskey Whispers of the Past titled Conflicted Jewel. I’ve written both contemporary and mystery/suspense. I’m so thankful that I found a publisher that allowed me to find my writing voice and let it shout to the heavens.

I hope you’ll take the time to read my four stories. Each is has a different flavor. I’m sure you’ll find one you’ll like.

Thank you, again, Christi for having me today.
